About
{"ops":[{"insert":"The world of Lepidoptera inspires me. Butterflies, moths, and skippers are a beauty to behold that blesses my eyes every time I see them. The wide array of colors and patterns on their body and wings is marvelous and mirrors the radiance of nature as a whole. They symbolize transformation, rebirth, and personal growth, and their life cycle from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to adult is a stunning representation of that symbolism. Whenever I see them, I see myself - growing, shifting, and changing, and I am reminded of the beauty that comes with personal growth even during dark times. Because in the darkness is where my wings form, so I can fly to new heights and to places I could have never reached without them. \n ཐི༏ཋྀ\nI have worked with many art media, including drawing (pencil, charcoal), painting (watercolor, acrylic, oil), pastel, sculpture (metal, papier-mâché, clay, wire), image transfer (solvent image transferring, mod podge, cyanotype), and more. However, out of all of these different media, I have felt most drawn to image transferring. From a printed image, I use a substance such as essential oil to transfer ink from the printed paper to another surface, such as thicker paper. I cut out the images transferred to the thicker paper, and use them for collages. I enjoy the process of painting and drawing to create compositions; however, the process of transferring, cutting, and arranging adds a more tactile element that brings me more into the world of what I am creating. I can feel the anatomical structures of the insects I create, their wings, their abdomen, and their antennae, which connect me to them and the process of creating them. \n"}]}
