{"ops":[{"insert":"Art in various forms (singing, painting, writing) has always been an important part of my life and self-expression. Growing up on the West Coast, I developed a deep connection to the ocean, which is a frequent theme in much of my artwork. The rhythm of the waves, light playing on the water, the color changes of the water itself over the course of a day, never cease to fascinate me. Coronado Beach in San Diego is a particular favorite.\nMy Mother introduced me to water color and tempura paint as a child. One of my first unsupervised art projects was to take said bottles of tempura and slather it all over my bookshelf - I felt like such a creative in those moments! - making a hospital for my dolls, so the story goes. \nOther influences include my Uncle Mel. Although he passed before I was born, his creations were a frequent topic when I was young. My grandparents proudly hung his artwork throughout their home. The exposure to large, dramatic, colorful works of art that conveyed complex emotion made a profound and lasting impression over the years. \nPlease note that ten percent of proceeds will be donated either to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in honor of my Uncle, or to St. Jude’s.\n"}]}
