About

{"ops":[{"insert":"Glodina Van Zyl is an oil painter based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa, whose work emerges from a life shaped by resilience, spiritual depth, and lived experience. Born in Cape Town to a single mother who faced depression and the instability of frequent relocation, Van Zyl developed an early awareness of both struggle and endurance. These formative experiences, together with a profound sense of spirituality, became anchors through years of personal challenges. She met her paternal family late in life and after the passing of her dad, she discovered a renewed love for painting. Painting had a restorative, healing and calming effect and awakened her spirit. \n\n\n\nHer paintings reflect this journey through an emotive and visionary approach to oil painting. Working in an impressionistic, color-rich language, Van Zyl creates images that hold tension between sorrow and hope, hardship and grace. Her work is deeply reflective, often evoking the beauty that can exist within strife and the quiet strength required to survive it. Following the loss of her mother to cancer, her artistic voice has continued to deepen, drawing from memory, loss, and healing with sincerity and nuance.\n\n\n\n Glodina van Zyl Art Studio offers more than visual expression; the art presents a contemplative record of perseverance. Her paintings invite viewers into a space where vulnerability is met with dignity, and where color becomes a vehicle for emotional truth. In this way, her work stands as both personal testimony and universal reflection on the enduring power of spirit, transformation, and beauty. \n"}]}
