The Koala Bear is one of Richard Vest's favorite animals. The California Wildlife artist hand carves this piece in Alder wood with green and grayish staining.

He uses a torch to darken and highlight certain areas bring depth to the work.
The artist frequents the San Diego Zoo when he can observing the Koalas in their enclosure.

The Koala Bear is really not a bear at all but a marsupial or pouched animal. After giving birth, the Koala keeps the baby in the pouch. Koalas live in Eastern Australia where Eucalyptus trees are plentiful, the leaves their main diet.

Koalas can reach up to 33" tall and 20 lbs, living up to 20 years in the wild.

This wall sculpture measures approximately 25" in diameter, 2" thick with a steel bar on the reverse, ready for wall mounting.

Richard uses Tung Oil for the finish. All of his work is for indoor display only, signed and copyrighted. Additional, the artist includes a signed Authenticity Certificate with each piece.

This piece finds it's way into many homes over fireplaces, couches, dens, and living rooms....Many customers end up putting in track lighting focusing on the two animals.

Each carving is an original piece with it's own coloring, tones, grain, and personality.
