Emperor Penguin Family Wall Sculpture hand carved
This beautiful Emperor Penguin Family Wall Sculpture, carved in solid hard rock Maple wood,
is really an outstanding piece..
Hand carved by California artist, Richard Vest, the sculpture has a tung oil finish and steel bar on the reverse, ready for wall mounting.
Black, orange, white, and yellow staining applied giving it it the Emperor look.
The piece measures about 30" wide x 30" high and is suitable for indoor display only.
It comes out from the wall 6- 7" to the wing, a consideration in selecting the wall location.
Maple is a hard wood and a heavy wood....this piece weighs 28 lbs so heavy steel brackets are supplied with the piece assuring safe wall mounting.
The artist choose this wood, ( even though it is heavy), because of the Maple color. Maple accepts stain well, is dense, and is great to carve, although hard.
Note the background of the piece...The artist carved a horizon line taking you back into the piece with an icy look...quite interesting.
