Samson destroys the Temple of Dagon

Oil on canvas 16 x 20. This painting depicts the Biblical story of Samson, shown captured blinded, tortured and mocked by the Philistines in the temple of their dieity, Dagon. Samson calls on the Lord for strength and pushes apart the pillars that support the temple and collapses it, killing himself and all the Philistines.
The painting is based on the Cecil B. De Mille 1949 biblical epic film, "Samson and Delilah" starring Victor Mature and Hedy Lamarr
