Newton is best remembered as the feverish eyed pirate in Disney's adaption of Treasure Island (1950) so iconic was his portrayal of Silver and other pirates
( Blackbeard ) that it became the standard for movies historical pirates. Newtons exaggeration of England's West County accent is credited with popularizing the stereotypical " Pirate Voice". He is the patron saint of annual international " Talk Like a Pirate Day".
