Prairie Tempest
I stood at the edge of the Upper Prairie in the Badlands National Park and watched a storm rolling in from the plains. The wind was gusting immensely as I attempted to film the sunset, and my tripod kept falling over. I never realized how much trees can make a difference in slowing the wind until I came to the prairie lands. It was breathtaking to see the enormous thunderhead rolling in and the downpour of rain against the horizon. I felt so small, yet so full of gratitude to witness this beautiful tempest from a distance. I was driving away from the park, when it finally arrived. It was like witnessing day and night at once; ahead of me was light and behind me was a darkness as deep as the night.
