An Inseparable Companion

Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John H. Watson in both film and radio. Rathbone and Bruce are the classic Holmes and Watson. Others have played the roles admirably and Bruce is often criticized for his bumbling Dr. Watson, but it's their off-screen friendship and the chemistry of Rathbone and Bruce that seeps through the celluloid and adds real flesh to the characters. Basil Rathbone, in the artfully and faithfully produced Hound of the Baskervilles, released as a major Hollywood film by Twentieth Century-Fox.
