The Legend of Wilhelm Tell

The Legend of Wilhelm Tell

The Legend of Wilhelm Tell comes alive in this vivid primitivist drawing, capturing the tense moment of the archer aiming his crossbow to save a child. When I was a child, I was given a small brown book for my birthday. The title of the book was "In the Land of Legends". That's how I first touched the wonderful world of Doctor Faust and Don Juan! I traveled the seas and oceans aboard the Flying Dutchman or ran after the Hamelin Pied Piper. My favorite characters were Robin Hood and Wilhelm Tell! A lot of water has flown since then. Today's children fly on Harry Potter's broomstick 🙂 I soon rummaged in the library and found this memory from my childhood. I leafed through its pages and my hands itched to illustrate one of the legends. My favorite Wilhelm Tell was lucky. I made a gentle and naive illustration of the moment when Wilhelm Tell shot the apple at his son's head. While I was making the illustration, I was a child again and flying on the wings of dreams!!!
