Lost Highways - The Mother Road

The last day of a long journey across the country and we decided to stop to enjoy the sun rising in the distance somewhere south of I-40 on one of the original stretches of Route 66 "The Mother Road". I don't remember the exact location, somewhere between Needles and Barstow. Many years ago as a child our family did this same road trip across the country and now retracing the route as an adult gives an eerie insight into the implications of the passage of time and things lost to the hour glass.
