Bass Harbor Head Light Station

It's a boulder crawl to get to the east side of the Bass Harbor Lighthouse to view the sun setting behind the light. Then comes the challenge to get into a halfway decent position with the other 50 or so photographers perched on the rocks for that perfect view and capture of the elusive golden hour. For me crawling over the rocks with my 10 lbs of camera gear and tripod was a mission. My father's water color painting of this lighthouse will be forever etched in my memory. His ability to teach while effortlessly mixing colors and brush strokes to create a striking impression of his subject left so many of his students in awe.
