Humanity is Not for Sale!

This painting began as a tribute to the soldiers who lose their lives on the battlefield—and to those who lose themselves even after returning home.

I started it in 2019, with the intention of preserving a fragment of memory of the world as it once was. I completed it in 2023, at a time when humanity found itself once again entangled in war.

My uncle served in Afghanistan and lost his life many years ago, he was 29.
Hearing that war has come again in our life so close to my own country, Romania, deeply affected the structure and emotional narrative of this work.

What began as remembrance evolved into a statement about the present.

The piece draws inspiration from the echoes of past wars and, sadly, from those still unfolding today. It is executed with a palette knife in a semi-abstract, textured manner—thick layers of paint, visible gestures, and surfaces that can be felt as much as seen.

At its center stands the main figure, accompanied by a secondary one in a figurative approach.
The returning soldier, meeting his newborn child, becomes a symbol of hope—but also of sorrow. At the child’s feet lies blood, a stark reminder that a generation is born into a world marked by conflict.

This work speaks about the erosion of humanity within us, and the fragile hope that remains.

It is a different style from my usual practice—more raw, more direct—created intentionally to carry weight and impact.

It is a deeply personal piece, and I am grateful to share it with you.
